Women's prison "Frauenzuchthaus Hoheneck" - the most notorious women's prison in the GDR is known under this name. Up to 23,000 women are said to have lived through their imprisonment in Stollberg, Saxony, until 1989. Today the area of the former prison is being converted into a memorial site.
